Green Atlantic

Protecting Silent Life

We raise our voices to protect silent life in the Green Atlantic.

We believe inspiration promoted through art is the key to humanize and raise enough awareness for caring to unfold naturally.

the Green Atlantic is an independent initiative partnered with the NGO’s Mission Green Earth Brazil and Art of Living, founded by the humanitarian Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

We help private owners and original people in need through different renatification actions.

World Adventure Society is the team of explorers and extreme adventure that has stepped up to support us create a film; a surf expedition with the sound track Flesh and Soul.

We are currently reaching out to sponsors and supporters to make a surf documentary and expedition possible. Will you join us?

Culture and Symbolism of the Green Atlantic

“Saracura is a bird from the Atlantic Forest. Like most birds, they migrates in flocks. Whenever they reach new territory, 2 females are sent forth to indicate whether the area is hospitable or hostile. What determines whether the flocks move forward to inhabit or retrieve to new lands is the Saracura Song. The presence of the Saracura, or the ‘woodrail’, is an indication of safe fertile ground”

The Guaranis are the indigenous people of this forest. The red paint on their faces indicates innocence, while black means protection. Only the women wear the mark of the Saracura paw on their faces, for like the bird, the females are the guardians of themselves, the tribe and the environment. A child is only allowed to use black paint in festive celebration. Officially, they are only allowed to wear black after they have spent 3 months in the jungle on their own after their first cycle to awaken the protective instinct. They have much to share about protecting silent life in our planet.

Sitting with Kerexu

To tell about the essence of her people, Kerexu honors us with a traditional story women share with their children. I now am blessed to share a story many more need to hear about with you.

First and only female tribe leader, former Cacique, in one of the magnificent souther states in Brazil, Santa Catarina. Florianópolis, Morro dos Cavalos.

“I was asked to speak of the needs of the Amazon while being from the Atlantic Forrest. Will you help us let the world know of the existence of our people?”

— Kerexu’s comments on her last visit to the UN.

The Atlantic Forest mitigates climate change, produces oxygen and rainfal and also helps avoid natural disasters

Mata Atlantica Mapa.jpg

HOME of indigenous peoples (Guarani and Kaigangs) and other traditional communities (caiçara and quilombo), the Mata Atlântica is the second largest plant formation in all of South America following the Amazon Forest providing sources of water for most Brazilians.

The Atlantic Forest was the first environment settled by the Portuguese colonists more than 500 years ago, and today is home for more than 70% of the entire Brazilian population. Mostly in the large cities of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Curitiba.

Because of these historical processes, since colonisation, about 93% of the original Atlantic Forest domain was deforested or extremely modified in some way.

We have work to do!

You can help.

Protecting Silent Life

The Green Atlantic

In my last visit to Portugal I was caught by surprise with a nauseating feeling while contemplating the wood and gold in the castles of Sintra. Like many, I couldn’t help but live the colonisation process in imaginary flashes before my eyes.

I was in a surf expedition with my daughter.

That is when it occurred to me to unite surfers of the colonising countries who battled in Brazilian lands, The Netherlands and Portugal, to surf the coast of the Green Atlantic, learning about ways to protect silent life with the original indigenous tribes, while enjoying the sport and way of life more consciously.

I have recorded an album of one hour of consecutive music, expressing the fusion of ancestries in my genes in hope to embrace duality, both light and shadow to awaken more realness, promote more freedom and enjoy more genuine connection.

My aim is to give continuity to this art form "Flesh and Soul" (Pele e Alma) by creating a documentary, addressing the awakening of a new level of awareness promoted by the Guaranis while sharing with the surfers.

The NGO of explorers WAS (World Adventure Society) is on our side with the finest film crew who are more than willing to board this adventure. We have preselected surfers from Holland and Portugal, one of them with a "Green Surfer" title by the International Surf Organisation, surfer, coach and entrepreneur Hans van den Broek.

Kerexu is also available to give access to the tribes, share the stories and rituals of initiation and we also have more contacts of different indigenous communities throughout the coast.

What we need are financial means to make this documentary possible and spread the word.

Get in touch.

I hope to soon start this conversation and exciting venture to protect silent life in the Green Atlantic.
